I'm excited for a lot of things, but one of the big ones is
starting our own Christmas decoration collection.
Since we're on a bit of a budget, I've been looking for ways to
make our own ornaments. My mom and I made gingerbread
ornaments when I was very young that she still uses every year,
and I'm thinking of making some birds for our own tree.
I love the yarn tree (second from the bottom, get the how-to at
MarthaStewart.com), especially the star medallions.
I love the felt tree skirt, and it should be pretty cheap to make
since felt is pretty much. . .everywhere. And of course,
because we're us and we basically met because
I know how to fold a paper crane, our tree will
have to feature a few little winged paper friends.
So, if we can save on all that. . .
Maybe we can splurge on a set or two of bubble lights?
If you've never seen these in action, well. . .
You need to before you die. They're amazing.
Simply cannot wait for Christmas!
(Although, I'm dying to get to the beach for Thanksgiving.
I needs a serious break.)

Bubble lights! Never heard of those, and now I am quite intrigued.
My mom's parents have bubble lights. :-) Major childhood nostalgia, right there... every year, Fraser and I would go over and help them decorate their tree.
They're the best. My grandpa used to have them, too, and I loved them (even though mom told me repeatedly they were a fire hazard). I think the modern ones are a little safer, and since I'm pretty sure grandpa's got sold in a garage sale, I'll be getting those.
